The Holy Season of Lent
Dear Friend of St. Jude,
Thank you for your continued kindness to our Pallottine priests and brothers who conduct St. Jude Shrine. As a cherished member of our Circle of Hope, you strengthen our ministry with your deep faith, compassion, and generosity. Your faith is an inspiration that helps each of our priests and brothers to embrace Christ’s message to serve the poor and needy.
Lent is a time of grace, mercy and hope that unites us more fully to Christ. This 40-day personal journey enables us to rediscover and grow our relationship with Christ through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
I know that times are tough and many of you are struggling, but I humbly ask you to open your heart now and let your love pour out for those who suffer poverty, discrimination, abandonment, and injustice. Please join us in our efforts to make our Lord known and loved by answering God’s greatest calling: to serve Christ in the poor. I ask for your prayers and financial gifts of love that will help us in our ministries to the poor in 54 countries around the world. Each time you renew your commitment to our mission, you renew your commitment to Christ by serving the poor He embodies.
During this holy season, I encourage you to ask St. Jude – our beloved Saint of Hopeless Causes – to intercede for you and give you strength for these difficult times. Please know that you are a special friend and part of our Circle of Hope family. We care about you, and are honored to offer you hope and healing through the powerful intercession of St. Jude. Simply send us your prayer intentions. Our priests and brothers will remember your needs in our prayers, Novenas, and Masses.
And as we prepare for Easter and the most joyful event of the Resurrection, let us cherish our Lenten walk with Christ through our personal sacrifices and almsgiving. The ministries that you support save children from starvation, supply families with clean water and food, shelter refugees from danger, give medical care to the sick, and so much more. Please, let your Lenten walk be one of giving freely to others in their time of need by sending your gift today.
There is no greater mission for all of us than assuring people, and especially people who are suffering, of God’s deep love for them…and no greater work than helping them to overcome all the struggles and trials in their lives.
May this Lent be filled with healing, peace and hope through the intercession of St. Jude and our Lord Jesus Christ.
In Christ, our Crucified and Risen Lord,
Fr. Peter Sticco, S.A.C.
Novena Director
P.S. As you travel through these forty days of Lent, I hope you will remember to pray for the work of St. Jude Shrine and our Pallottine Missions around the world. I will make sure your prayer requests are included in all our prayers, Novenas, and Masses at St. Jude Shrine and the daily Mass that is celebrated on the tomb of St. Jude in the Vatican. God bless you for your kindness and generosity.
